Today, we all woke up bright and early to start harvesting vegetables. I can't believe how quickly that came and inevitably will go just as fast. Pretty soon it will be winter and I will be holed up in the cabin waiting for spring again...but that day is not today. Diane, a wonderful woman and a very capable helper came over, we spent our morning picking kale, chard and spinach. Lissa started separating and bagging those and I went back to pick radishes. I found the biggest radish I have ever seen in my life, we are going to have it for dinner.

Here is another picture of the sprouts, they are looking good and in a few days will be ready to add to salads and sandwiches.

Coleus and Lemon Balm |
I was at the nursery the other day and stumbled across lemon balm, it is an herb and it smells incredible. It smells kind of like lemon candy. It is edible and is apparently good on chicken or in tea. I am going to try a few recipes with my lemon balm and let you know what worked best for me. I also think it would be nice to make margaritas or put it in lemonade. I picked a leaf and rubbed it on my wrist as perfume and then spent the day smelling my wrist. I highly recommend getting some just for the smell and look of it, the leaves have a great texture to them and are bright green. I planted mine with some purple and green coleus and I think it looks great.
Lissa made an awesome lunch, a (fresh picked) spinach salad with a farm fresh egg, tuna, and a sprinkle of feta on it. DELICIOUS.
